Talking to the Enemy

President Jimmy Carter has met exiled Hamas political leader Khaled Meshaal during his trip to Syria. As part of his tour of the Middle East, Carter had already met with Hamas representatives in Egypt.

By his own admission Carter is not trying to mediate in the Arab-Israeli conflict, but – and here is the real problem – he does believe peace will not be achieved without talking to Hamas. Carter’s meeting in Egypt with Hamas representatives Mahmud Zahar and Said Siam was met by severe criticism, in fact the meeting was supposed to be held in the Gaza Strip . . . → Read More: Talking to the Enemy

Same dirt, new shovel!

Next week is the launch of the Quilliam Foundation by new age ‘Muslim revivers’ – Majid Nawaz, Ed Husain, Rashad Ali et al. The following week is the launch (well re-launch) by the ’secularists’ – ie the British Muslims for Secular Democracy. This BMSD includes the likes of Ghayasuddin Siddiqui of the defunct Muslim Parliament (I dream of the day when a Muslim women can marry a non-Muslim man), Yasmin Alibhai Brown (I recently discovered that I’m Muslim, not Black) and Taj Hargey (denier of Hadith). They have seven supporters – yes seven!

So what are they bringing to the debate. BMSD . . . → Read More: Same dirt, new shovel!

On the authority of Omar: the Prophet said Income Support….

Or so you you might be led to think, had you followed the lives and times of the magical six. Magical, because they seem to inhabit a world so far removed from reality that even Harry Potter would need to wake up.

Before you email your complaints – it’s Omar Brooks not Al-Khattab. I was trying to find references to Social Security benefits in the Qur’an and Ahadith, but sadly with my limited knowledge I failed. Perhaps I should ask Omar or Abdul Saleem…

If you thought you could count Ed Husain’s neurons on one hand, you might be . . . → Read More: On the authority of Omar: the Prophet said Income Support….

Dr Azzam Tamimi – sue the Evening Standard

The Evening Standard has finally done it. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any lower in the gutter, it decides to prove us wrong.

The paper would have us believe that ‘all Muslims’ have a secret agenda to get Ken Livingstone elected as London Mayor. Apparently, campaigning for a two-term mayor from the governing party must be a sinister thing to do? That’s not all, a suicide-bomb-advocating supporter of Hamas – Dr Azzam Tamimi – is also leading this conspiracy.

They would never dream of making such allegations of Ken’s Jewish supporters, and yes there are many out . . . → Read More: Dr Azzam Tamimi – sue the Evening Standard

D-List ‘Celeb’ Ed Husain (pun intended)

Why is it that ‘d-list’ celebs like Ed Husain – yes the nauseous variety – always say whatever is fashionable at the time?

First, he associated himself with mainstream Muslim groups like Young Muslim Organisation. Then came the rebellious attitude amongst (some) Muslim youth in the from of Hizbut Tahrir – naturally he jumped ship. When HT became unacceptable, he decided to leave and become a ’sufi’. Apparently that’s what all Muslims should be – so the government tells us. So Mahbub became Ed.

As the new eastablishment darling, Ed (ie government policy) dictated that HT must be banned. The government has now . . . → Read More: D-List ‘Celeb’ Ed Husain (pun intended)

When is a Terrorist not a Terrorist?

Do you recall the days when Omar Bakri used to make outlandish claims or ‘Sheikh’ Faisal telling us that it’s okay to rob a ‘kafir’ bank to raise money for the mujahideen? Shocked, most of us couldn’t understand why the authorities did nothing about these people. Well – it’s back again. The ‘Takfiri’ Ed Husain isn’t the only one being courted by the authorities and media, Hassan Butt is the new establishment darling.

I suspect the real reason for not charging him for his past activities is that firstly, Hassan is a fantasist. He is quite well known for . . . → Read More: When is a Terrorist not a Terrorist?
