Dumb and dumber

Yes Mahmoud Ahmadinejad does resemble George Bush’s long lost cousin, and not just on looks. He is as stupid (if not more), and cannot resist the temptation to live up to the bogeyman caricature. What exactly does he achieve by constantly denying or downplaying the Holocaust? The Holocaust is a historical fact.

Many more worse things can be said of Ahmedinejad, but what exactly was his crime at this UN conference on racism which prompted the walkout by Western delegates? Continue reading Dumb and dumber

Thank god for democracy – American style

Muslims and ‘conspiracy theorists’ have been complaining of the all powerful ‘Israeli lobby’ which has a stranglehold of washington politics. Naturally anyone who dares suggest there is such a thing must be anti-semitic. Right?

Well the Obama nominee for the NIC, to head the agency that controls all the Amercian intelligence agencies, can’t be that loony to suggest this, can he? He is just the latest victim, his crime was to have (in the past) suggested that “The brutal oppression of the Palestinians by Israeli occupation shows no signs of ending,” and “American identification with Israel has become total” Continue reading Thank god for democracy – American style

Irresponsibility under cover of religiosity

After the government shelved the last attempt to give legal rights to unmarried couples, a Private Members’ Bill is being introduced to try again. Worthy as the cause maybe, people are not asking basic questions on why we have this predicament: Why do men (yes mostly men) not want to get married? Is it because men want the thrill without the bill?

The argument that marriage is just a piece of paper (we don’t need a piece of paper to prove we are committed) is self-serving. If it was ‘just a piece of paper’ what then is the problem with getting it? As for the religious marriages, that’s also nonsense: if you object to religion – go to a registry office! Travelling with Muhammad…

Transiting via Paris, on my way to Africa yesterday, I suddenly noticed the lock on my luggage was missing! I went into shock, not because there was anything valuable in there, it’s just that this had never happened to me before.

Looking through my bag, I didn’t notice anything missing, just all differently arranged to how I had it. It then occurred to me that security at Luton Airport may have had a good look through my bag? They probably didn’t want to take the chance with a brown-skinned man travelling [alone] on a flight full of ‘Europeans’ to Paris. Continue reading Travelling with Muhammad…

Why the BBC has Crossed a Red line

The BBC’s refusal to broadcast the DEC Gaza appeal has not only shown its own bias when it comes to the Middle East conflict, but there is a bigger tragedy in this saga.

The biggest casualty is that others are following suit. The British Red Cross, one of the largest UK charities and a DEC member, has sadly fallen into this trap. The BRC appeal states: ‘the British Red Cross has launched an appeal in response to the desperate humanitarian situation in Gaza and Israel.’

What? Instead of trying to find words to describe this political correctness gone-mad, Continue reading Why the BBC has Crossed a Red line

Good time to bury bad news

While Muslims were rightly outraged at yet another ‘extremist’ witch-hunt against prominent members of the Muslim community, it seems another story has slipped through the Muslim net.

Ed Husain & Co, in the guise of the Quillam Foundation, are being given £1 Million in government funds for their work to counter extremism! Is it a coincidence that this story broke while Muslim attention is focused on the latest extremist outed by the media? Yes, the story would’ve come out eventually – but this was certainly a good time for Ed & Co to bury this ‘bad’ news. Continue reading Good time to bury bad news
