Perpetual need for the message of Muhammad

Rabi’ al Awwal is considered to be the month in which the Prophet was born and illuminated the whole world with the light emanating from his sublime being and character. In these trouble times we, firstly as Muslims, need to be reminded that it is only through emulating the Prophet’s character and practicing his teachings that we can find victory and security in this chaotic world.

Secondly, those who have not yet been acquainted with this great man need to understand the message of peace and justice he was preaching. Whether you accept him or not, as people who wish to live peacefully in this world must learn each others beliefs and practices in order to appreciate one another. Below is an interesting articleby the late Shaykh of Egypt, Muhammad al Ghazzali, reminding everyone the need to understand the message of Muhammad in our lives:

‘The need for the message of Muhammad is everlasting. The ever-existing misguidance remains – though darker and increasingly widespread. Idol worshipers are increasing and the People of the Book are getting further from their scriptures to the extent of totally forgetting them. Religion is not a fake relationship between a man and God. Religion is useless if it does not prevent evil, encourages morals, and destroys the desires of arrogance and for oppression.

‘So the wisdom behind the message of Muhammad is becoming clearer in this age. Although human intelligence is excelling, it is totally submitting to the most evil and uncontrolled of desires. The People of the Book are the superpowers, but have totally kept away from the teachings of Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad. Allah revealed the wisdom behind the message of Prophet Muhammad saying:

“(By Allah, most certainly, We sent (messengers) to nations before you, but the Shaytan (Satan) made their deeds fair-seeming to them, so he is their guardian today, and they shall have a painful punishment. And We have not revealed to you the Book except that you may make clear to them that about which they differ, and (as) a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe).” (Qur’an 16:63-64).

‘The Western countries have totally forgotten God and the Hereafter and the people have wasted their entire lives neglecting prayer and only following their lusts. I was furious when I read an interview held with the wife of the former French President, François Mitterrand. This interview shows how far those people are far away from any heavenly teachings. She was asked: “Did you and Mitterrand have a son before marriage?” She answered: “Do not bother finding out the truth regarding this issue. A thorough investigation might reveal as many as twenty-five thousand similar cases.”

‘What is this? Isn’t there any voice for religion in those people’s minds? Is the world so dark to the extent of being void of any fear of God? It seems that the religion that seeks to stop fornication is only known to Muslims. Meanwhile, the very advanced West is holding international conferences to influence us to agree to promiscuous lifestyles. How could they request of us in Cairo and Beijing (UN conferences on Population) to accept same sex marriages and common law relationships? Who among the Prophets of Allah agreed to these grave sins or even kept silent with regards to them?

‘We, Muslims, the followers of Muhammad’s teachings, are asking humanity to reflect upon these teachings, instead of fighting them.’
