Inayat stabs an intruder (in self-defence), and is arrested (but the CPS will not press any charges, so that means he is innocent!)

Read the headline of this blog (above). The words in brackets are facts which the, ridiculous excuse for a newspaper, Mail on Sunday (MOS) would NOT like you to know!

Instead the MOS headline reads: “Government adviser on Islamic terror arrested after man is stabbed at his home” Tom Harper is the guy who wrote this piece, sensationalist journalism at its best! Well done Tom! Continue reading Inayat stabs an intruder (in self-defence), and is arrested (but the CPS will not press any charges, so that means he is innocent!)

Thank god for democracy – American style

Muslims and ‘conspiracy theorists’ have been complaining of the all powerful ‘Israeli lobby’ which has a stranglehold of washington politics. Naturally anyone who dares suggest there is such a thing must be anti-semitic. Right?

Well the Obama nominee for the NIC, to head the agency that controls all the Amercian intelligence agencies, can’t be that loony to suggest this, can he? He is just the latest victim, his crime was to have (in the past) suggested that “The brutal oppression of the Palestinians by Israeli occupation shows no signs of ending,” and “American identification with Israel has become total” Continue reading Thank god for democracy – American style

Perpetual need for the message of Muhammad

Rabi’ al Awwal is considered to be the month in which the Prophet was born and illuminated the whole world with the light emanating from his sublime being and character. In these trouble times we, firstly as Muslims, need to be reminded that it is only through emulating the Prophet’s character and practicing his teachings that we can find victory and security in this chaotic world.

Secondly, those who have not yet been acquainted with this great man need to understand the message of peace and justice he was preaching. Whether you accept him or not Continue reading Perpetual need for the message of Muhammad

Irresponsibility under cover of religiosity

After the government shelved the last attempt to give legal rights to unmarried couples, a Private Members’ Bill is being introduced to try again. Worthy as the cause maybe, people are not asking basic questions on why we have this predicament: Why do men (yes mostly men) not want to get married? Is it because men want the thrill without the bill?

The argument that marriage is just a piece of paper (we don’t need a piece of paper to prove we are committed) is self-serving. If it was ‘just a piece of paper’ what then is the problem with getting it? As for the religious marriages, that’s also nonsense: if you object to religion – go to a registry office! Marmite and the Aid Convoy

It was a truly historic moment! After a gruelling journey spanning over 8,000 kilometers, and lasting nearly a month; the Viva Palestina convoy finally reached Gaza after receiving permission from the Egyptian authorities to cross the Rafah borders.

Over 1 Million pounds worth of aid, over 100 vehicles and 300 volunteers from across Britain, on Monday 9 March/12 Rabiul Awwal, entered the blessed land of Palestine. Muslims and non Muslims from all corners of Britain came together, having watched the death and destruction reaped upon the people of Gaza by the Israeli war machine. They were moved by their humanity and stirred to do more then just demonstrate and picket - they wanted to provide a real lifeline for Gaza. Normal, simple, everyday men and women were moved and inspired to do something momentous. And despite all the obstacles in their way they succeeded. It goes to show, where there’s a will there is a way. Continue reading Marmite and the Aid Convoy

In times of difficulties

I had to return home today from work – having fallen ill. Nothing serious – just the old flu that’s going around (God knows best). Having spent most of the day in bed – I started thinking…

An illness – big or small is difficult. We are all going through times of difficulties. On a global level we recently watched the horrors of the war on Gaza; the ongoing war in Iraq, with the death toll rising by the day and then Afghanistan. And then there’s the recent shootings in Pakistan; the attack on Mumbai; deteriorating humanitarian situation in Darfur; and the military crisis in Bangladesh.

On the home-front (if there is such a thing in the global village) we have our own problems with the ‘credit crunch’ and the financial ‘meltdown’ – job losses, anxiety over what will happen next.

It is at these times we may ask: why do these things happen? How do we look at these things? What do we do? Continue reading In times of difficulties
