Mail on Sunday replies on Azad Ali

The Mail on Sunday has not only replied to my letter of complaint, but also (quietly) removed the articles from its website. However, John Wellington’s (Managing Editor) reply does not address the central issue of the complaint – the misquote and resulting false allegation.

I have written to him once again urging him to issue a full apology in print. The text of his reply and my new letter are included below Continue reading Mail on Sunday replies on Azad Ali

Update on complaint to newspapers – Azad Ali’s blog

The Evening Standard has now confirmed that they have received our complaint and have asked their Managing Editor (managingeditor@standard.co.uk) to investigate.

Given the experience of many people who have told us that the Mail Online website does not publish their critical comments, it seems the Mail on Sunday (the original sinners) could not be bothered to even acknowledge our complaint (emailed to news@mailonsunday.co.uk). Defending the truth is likened to endorsing extremism

The Prophet Muhammad is reported to have said that one of the signs of the advent of the Last Hour is that there will be ‘increase in falsehood and no concern to check reports’.This, according to the scholars, is one of the minor signs of the Last Hour. Coincidentally, the Scholars mention that all of the minor signs have come to pass and only the major ones are yet to materialise.

As the illegal bombardment in Gaza comes to a stealthy ‘cessation’, the so called proponents of morals and ethics here in the West continue to censure those who call for justice and fairness and who support the abandoned people of Palestine. It seems that anybody who shows support for those struggling to free themselves from oppression and injustices is ripe for slander by the media and false accusations Continue reading Defending the truth is likened to endorsing extremism

Response by the Daily Telegraph

We have received acknowledgment of our complaint on the false allegations about Azad Ali. Although the article has NOT been removed from their website completely – the Telegraph has suspended ‘public access’ to the article, while it investigates. This effectively means people visiting their website will not see it on the homepage, but it is still possible to use the search function to locate it.

Credit where it’s due, the Telegraph at least had the courtesy to issue an immediate acknowledgement of the complaint. Please see below for the text of the letter which has been emailed to us. We have yet to receive acknowledgment of the complaint from the Evening Standard and the Mail on Sunday. Continue reading Response by the Daily Telegraph

Witch-hunt against Azad Ali: Letters to the Mail on Sunday and others

Dear Sir or Madam

I am writing to complain about the article published in the Mail on Sunday (18/01/09) about Azad Ali, one of the bloggers on Between the Lines. The article selectively quotes from his blog to paint a picture which is misleading and falsely portrays him as an extremist.

The specific and central allegation in the article entitled: Muslim civil servant suspended over ‘killing British troops is justified’ blog, claims that Azad Ali ’suggested that killing British troops in Iraq is justified’; this is completely untrue and libelous. Blessed Gaza

The barbaric onslaught on Gaza is coming to its fourth week and the murder of over a thousand mostly innocent men, women and children still has not induced any real protest or condemnation from the international community [especially the countries that matter] – how many more innocent Palestinians lives are to be lost until we see justice prevail?

The images of the cruel and inhumane destruction by the Zionist state has left many people hopeless and dejected. But Israel, with the fourth largest military in the world, has not yet and will not accomplish its objective to destroy Hamas’s capability of firing rockets. The people of Gaza are resisting and they will never be dishonoured. Continue reading Blessed Gaza
