No hostility towards Israel…ever

I actually enjoy watching Question Time on the BBC. It’s quite refreshing to see MPs being taken to account by members of the general public, as representatives of the main political parties work against each other to get the loudest applause or cheer of approval. It’s a sign of our healthy democracy – the direct interface between the people and their elected leaders.

So whilst watching Thursdays episode, I fully expected a question about the BCC’s refusal to show a humanitarian appeal for Gaza by the DEC. While Hardeep Singh Kholi, Nicola Sturgeon and Jo Swinson rightly spoke against the indefensible and inconsistent decision of the BBC, Michael Gove and Lord Falconer spoke in favour. So it is foregin policy!

My fellow blogger Azad Ali wrote a blog a few weeks ago titled It’s foreign policy stupid! He was of course referring to one of the main contributing factors which disillusioned and alienated young British Muslims.

There are many international ‘adventures’ one can cite; Bush’s war on Iraq, which thus far cost over a million lives. Though British people overwhelmingly objected to what by any standard of International law was an illegal war. This did not sway Tony Blair, he preferred to hoodwink Britain into joining Bush’s war based on lies and deals struck previously in private. Continue reading So it is foregin policy!

Why the BBC has Crossed a Red line

The BBC’s refusal to broadcast the DEC Gaza appeal has not only shown its own bias when it comes to the Middle East conflict, but there is a bigger tragedy in this saga.

The biggest casualty is that others are following suit. The British Red Cross, one of the largest UK charities and a DEC member, has sadly fallen into this trap. The BRC appeal states: ‘the British Red Cross has launched an appeal in response to the desperate humanitarian situation in Gaza and Israel.’

What? Instead of trying to find words to describe this political correctness gone-mad, Continue reading Why the BBC has Crossed a Red line

The return of Salahuddin al-Ayyubi

They say that history repeats itself. Previous events and happenings reoccur and unfold in new and mysterious ways, sometimes they surprise us and sometimes even they shock us but as cognisant believers in the path to God we must learn from our past and re-enact the glory days our ancestors enjoyed.

Often, an external event outside our control and authority and in many occasions events orchestrated by our foes and adversaries awaken us and provoke us to evaluate our situation and guide our future course of action. The calamity that the people of Gaza faced and are continuing to face shouId help us evaluate our individual and collective actions Continue reading The return of Salahuddin al-Ayyubi

Latest on the case of Azad Ali – Telegraph & Mail

Daily Telegraph: Although the language is much more sophisticated, regrettably the Telegraph reply is more or less the same as the Mail on Sunday.

I’ll spare you the full letter, the following excerpts sum up the reply: Mr Rhidian Wynn Davies, Consulting Editor, wrote: “Taken in context it is clear Mr Ali’s endorsement of the beliefs of Abdullah Azzam also extends also to the doctrine of jihad…”

He continues later, “Nothing that Mr Ali wrote differs from, qualifies or otherwise questions this doctrine. The inference that he agrees with, endorses and adopts it unconditionally is inescapable”. And concludes, “We are satisfied that our quotes from the blog were reproduced accurately and in proper context.”

From his letter it is clear Mr Wynn Davies is a master of the English language, and I can certainly learn a lot from him. However, through his articulacy he also manages not to answer my central complaint. Continue reading Latest on the case of Azad Ali – Telegraph & Mail

Good time to bury bad news

While Muslims were rightly outraged at yet another ‘extremist’ witch-hunt against prominent members of the Muslim community, it seems another story has slipped through the Muslim net.

Ed Husain & Co, in the guise of the Quillam Foundation, are being given £1 Million in government funds for their work to counter extremism! Is it a coincidence that this story broke while Muslim attention is focused on the latest extremist outed by the media? Yes, the story would’ve come out eventually – but this was certainly a good time for Ed & Co to bury this ‘bad’ news. Continue reading Good time to bury bad news
