In an interview for Lebanese television channel ‘Future TV’ Norman Finkelstien asked “How can you expect other people to respect Arabs, when you show no respect for yourselves”. Wow! How true! In the interview Finkelstein declared his solidarity with Hizbullah – for resisting and some would say defeating Isreal in July 2006. He said they showed courage and discipline and were defending their country against foreign occupiers and invaders intent on destroying Lebanon. In the month that we remember the Nakba – the Catasrophe – Finklestien’s words resonate so much more!
The non-Muslim world, and indeed the Muslim world (including the Arabs) should be reminded that it was the Palestinians who were forced to leave their homes, they are the refugees! It is the Palestinians who have been occupied, and imprisoned in their own homes, they are the ones who are besieged and boycotted. Lets not mix things up here, Israel is the occupier, Israel flaunts UN resolutions, kills and imprisons elected members of governments and other political figures. It is Israel which has built the illegal settlements, and the illegal wall. The Palestinians want their rights, their freedoms, their homes, their land. And many have taken the path of military resistance to achieve their aims.
And here again Finkelstein’s interview speaks volumes. Is Military resistance the only way to achieve the aim of the Lebenese people, is there no other way he was asked. “I honestly don’t see another way unless you choose to be their [Isreal and the American's] slaves,” Continue reading To Live Crawling or Die Standing?

So the 60th anniversary of the Nakba – Catastrophe- had come and gone, how was it for you? There were the odd remembrance rallies here and there, some seminars and much Dua. I thank Allah that we at least made some Dua – right?
Here is the thing, personally I found that the remembrance of this disaster, when the Palestinians were terrorised out of their lands by Zionist’s, killing, raping, maiming and using every terrorist act imaginable to usurp the land that belonged to Palestinians, a bit of a damp squib. The West has shown its hand and it can never be more clearer than the praise received by George ‘Dubya’ Bush from members of the Zionist occupiers (Knesset) “Bush seems to be more Zionist than Olmert”, and that “it is better to have Bush as a PM instead of Olmert”
So where did Bush remember the Palestinians? He didn’t – and why should he! I expect no less from Bush, Blair, Brown or Miliband. Allah has reminded us why they will not, read surah Baqarah verse 120. My issue is with the Muslims who have allowed such an event to pass with such apathy! Time Magazine’s 2008 list of the 100 most influential people was unveiled last week. Eleven Muslim politicians, pioneers, entertainers and thinkers from around the world have made it to the list.
We are told this list comes after much debate among leading world academics. So this year the Dalai Lama is number one on the list. This will no doubt raise the profile of the Tibetan movement whose strength, determination and dignity is there for all to see. Yet the international community continues to remain shamefully silent. When asked what he thought of the human race, the Dalai Lama replied: “We are the superior species on Earth but also the biggest troublemakers”.
What I am really happy about is the inclusion of Malaysia’s former deputy prime minister and current opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim – who led the Muslim figures, ranking ninth in the world’s most influential leaders. I remember meeting him a few years back and just remember his smiles, his approachable personality and the thoroughness of his analysis: qualities all Muslims leaders could do with today.
Despite undergoing torture and false imprisonment by the former prime minister Mohathir Mohamed – Anwar Ibrahim seemed retrospective, not at all bitter or vengeful. Here was a man who had his goal clearly set on better things. Continue reading Time 100: who would be in your list?

Egypt’s octogenarian leader, Hosni Mubarak, celebrated his 80th birthday last weekend by earlier sentencing leading Muslim Brotherhood members – including its third most senior figure Khairat el-Shater, and key financial backers.
Today Mubarak’s cordial neighbour Israel celebrates its 60th anniversary. Whilst the likes of Desmond Tutu call ‘for mutual respect between Israelis and Palestinians’, Johann Hari of the Independent focuses on something more basic – Israeli sh*t!
Many Jews and Palestinians are NOT celebrating Israel’s 60th anniversary because of the shameful and inhumane way Israel treats the Palestinians. You can’t get any worst than this: first you subjugate them to years of occupation, state terrorism and assassination of their legitimate political leaders, refuse to allow thousands of refugees their right to return home, demolish homes and create the world’s largest prison (Gaza) and now, wait for it… pump your faeces down the throats of Palestinians. I’ve always been a democrat, and pleased to inform the Islamistas that I still remain a committed one. It seems my ‘faith’ in kratos by the demos has been vindicated by the London Mayoral elections.
Let me explain. It all started with a [very] hard fought election campaign, which sometimes descended into personal insults and scaremongering – on all sides. However the events from Friday (2 May) night onwards were a showcase of democracy at its best. The mayor-elect Johnson thanked and acknowledged his predecessor’s achievements and contribution to London, Ken Livingstone in turn wished his successor well and offered to help him in any way he can.
The defeated Ken Livingstone promptly cleared out his desk and become an ordinary member of the public. His key advisers resigned and the officers who feel they cannot support the policies of the new mayor are also slowly resigning.
This kind of election conduct (with a few exceptions) is the norm in most western democracies. Replace the names Boris and Ken with Muhammad and Abdullah, ignore their policies, and imagine that it was in a ‘decent’ Muslim country (it’s hard I know, but try) – wouldn’t this be something to aspire to for an Islamic state (Khilafa if you prefer)? I suggested yesterday that the reasons for the instigation of terrorism and radicalisation amongst people are mainly due to savage foreign policies, and economic and social instability.
Muhammad Sadik Khan, the suspected leader of the 7/7 atrocity left a video message stating that his reasons for the attack were the invasion of Iraq, and abuses in the war: “Your [the West's] democratically elected governments continue to perpetuate atrocities against my people all over the world… your support for them makes you directly responsible… until we feel security, you will be our targets. Until you stop the bombing, gassing, imprisonment . . . → Read More: Eradicating antipathetic rhetoric [Cont]
